<image:caption>In “The Quiet Place,” from Powder’s November 2018 issue, I wanted to explore how skiing enables one to find silence in a world with too much noise. But in looking through the lens of skier and guide Beau Fredlund, who lives in Cooke City, Montana, I also tried to find answers about whether seeking solitude in the wilderness is a search…or an escape.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - People and Places</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a writer, editor, content producer, and podcaster living in Jackson, Wyoming, where I began my career as a journalist in 1998. I get my inspiration from mountains and the people living in them, and find solace in the natural world. As a trusted voice in skiing, I have been interviewed by NPR, CNN, and many local outlets. In 2023, I teamed up with David Reddick to relaunch Powder Magazine, and continue to contribute as a freelancer. Since 2019, I have been the Communications Director for Teton County Search & Rescue Foundation, where, among other things, I produce and host The Fine Line podcast.</image:caption>
